Preston Muslim Forum (PMF) has been in existence for around 20 years in Preston. It was set up to support the mainly, but not exclusively, BME community in Preston. Over these years it has provided some very valuable services, such as helping people into employment, Social Welfare, form filling, health and well being, immigration etc. It is positioned right in the middle of one of the most deprived area of Preston. PMF has worked well in partnership with other voluntary and statutory bodies and have delivered some good projects in Preston. In recent years PMF has helped a sizeable East European community as well. In a typical year it helps around 3500 people some on phone and others by drop-ins. It has also worked with young people in collaboration with police to help reduce anti-social activities. We have also housed volunteers, carried out a Luncheon Club Project, put people into employment, placements, training and clients have become self employed too. We are also offering ESOL, looking to provide further courses and employability skills workshops with no age limit. Currently we have a project running, - teaming NEET clients (NOT IN EMPLOYMENT EDUCATION OR TRAINING) with a Mentor to help them get back into education or employment. This is ongoing and the PMF is looking to have courses running in the near future.
