Join the library
Main Details
Anyone residing in the UK may join Lancashire library service. You can join at any age and it's FREE! You do not need ID to join the library. Exemptions from library charges apply to some categories of library membership. Documentary evidence will be required in some cases.

We will process your application and issue your library card and PIN within five working days. - At a local library
Visit any library and ask a member of staff. They will be pleased to help you
If you are under 16 you can join the library by yourself - we will send your parent/carer a letter to tell them about the services you are entitled to.
If you are a student or a member of staff at the University of Central Lancashire you do not need to apply to join as you can use your UCLan student card to borrow from all our libraries.
Once you have received your library card, you can use it at any library in Lancashire. You will also be able to reserve, renew and use our online services.
