Lancashire County Council¿s Welfare Rights Service provides independent and confidential advice and representation on benefits and tax credits for carers.

This is a nationwide service run by the NHS, providing information and advice on health and social care for carers.

There are a number of carer organisations across Lancashire which provide valuable support to carers by providing a break and opportunities to build their social network.
Help in an emergency
Many carers worry about who will look after the people they care for if something unexpectedly happens to them.
Life after caring
When the person you care for dies, you not only lose a loved one but may also lose a sense of purpose as your caring role ends.
Mental capacity
Mental capacity is about the ability to make decisions. The Mental Capacity Act 2005 sets out the legal rights for supporting and protecting vulnerable people who are not able to make their own decisions.

Time for me
If you are a carer you can apply for a 'Time for Me' grant. This is an amount of money which you can choose to spend on anything that gives you a break, and which has a positive impact on your well-being in the longer term.
Volunteer services
Our volunteers provide support, befriending and companionship in the community.
Work and study
We can support you to access information about employment and help you to maintain your job if this is appropriate, or to maximise your income if it is not.
Young carers
Young carers are children or young people who look after someone in their family who has an illness, a disability, a mental health problem or a substance misuse problem.
