Attendance / truancy

Research shows that children who attend school regularly are likely to be more successful.

Truancy patrols

Lancashire County Council is trying to improve overall school attendance by working on initiatives with the police and other agencies. It is hoped to raise awareness of the problem to parents and carers, pupils, schools and communities/local businesses. The Government and the Department for Children, Schools and Families have sought to address these issues by making provision under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 Section 16 to undertake truancy sweeps.
