News: Fleetwood: Local Groups Come Together For Disabled

Wednesday, 10th March 2004
(PR 1162)

Lancashire Social Services and local disability groups held a special information day for physically disabled people and their carers in Fleetwood recently to highlight the range of support and rehabilitation services now available.

Staff from Chatsworth Resource Centre joined with carers groups, voluntary organisations and partner agencies to showcase the type of support available to help disabled people learn and gain meaningful employment, and maintain their independence in their own homes and in their community.

Representatives from partner agencies included adult education, health, welfare housing and employment support officers.

Frances Cairney, manager at Chatsworth Centre, said:

"The information day was a huge success and extremely useful for both disabled people and all partners concerned. It was an opportunity to share information and celebrate agencies and local groups working together to develop services and create opportunities for disabled people to lead more fulfilling lives."
