News: Tackling Domestic Violence

Journalists are invited to attend a conference aimed at highlighting the problem of domestic violence.
The event will look at a range of themes including the scale of domestic violence, improving help for victims and improving communications between organisations.
The conference takes place on 25th March 2004 at the Swallow Hotel, Samlesbury, near Preston.
The Key speakers are:
Hazel Harding - Leader of Lancashire County Council,
Steven Finnigan - Deputy Chief Constable,
Baroness Scotland of Asthal - Minister,
Annie Marjoram - Advisor to the Mayor of London,
Marilyn Mornington - District Judge
Valerie Wise from Preston Women's Refuge.
Delegates will look at ways to improve partnership working across the country and proposals for future working in Lancashire.
Representatives from the police, local authorities, voluntary organisations, health bodies, justice agencies and crime partnerships will attend.
The media are invited to attend the morning sessions to hear presentations from 9.30am.
Journalists are unable to attend the afternoon workshops, however the outcomes will be made available.
