News: Dalesrail Powers To Charity Success
Monday, 7th June 2004
Bank holiday DalesRail travellers raised £215 in a charity raffle held on Sunday 30 May.
The annual charity day was an overwhelming success raising more money than previous years. Organised by First North Western, Lancashire County Council and the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, the fundraiser topped last year's efforts and helped in raising the profile of Rosemere who provides support for cancer services in the Lancashire and South Cumbria area.
Sue Thompson, Chief Officer for Rosemere, explained:
"We were delighted to be involved with the DalesRail Charity Day this year. The money raised will go to fund additional projects in the Cancer Centre at Preston and the smaller local Cancer Units which often make all the difference to patients receiving treatment for cancer in this part of the North West.
"We are very grateful to all those who bought a raffle ticket and entered into the spirit of the day."
