News: Pocket-Sized Map For Public Transport Passengers

Monday, 14th June 2004
(PR 1397)

BUS and train passengers in Lancashire now have a pocket-sized guide to help them find their way around the county..

Lancashire County Council's new Inter Urban Bus Network map, available free to the public, details all the major bus and train routes in the county and beyond to Cumbria, Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.

It details main stations as well as service numbers and frequency of service.

County Councillor Jean Yates, Lancashire County Council Cabinet member for Highways and Transportation, said:

"People generally know their local bus routes but are flummoxed when it comes to travelling further afield by public transport.

"Lancashire has needed something like this for many years. We can't expect people to carry it everywhere but people should make sure they get one for the future - they will find it useful at some stage."

The guides can be obtained from County Information Centres, at public libraries and by ringing traveline on 0870 6082608.
