News: Councillors Make A Splash At Boat Festival

Tuesday, 15th June 2004
(PR 1406)

WAVES of visitors are expected when Lancashire County Council's information trailer visits the Boat Festival Family Day this Saturday.

County Councillors from Preston will be dropping anchor at Riversway between 10am and 6pm and will be inviting members of the public aboard to find out more about the work of the council.

County Councillor Brian Johnson said:

"Our trailer is always popular with the public wherever it goes so we are expecting waves of visitors throughout the day. It's another way for us to get closer to the public and speak with them about the services we provide - and of course we'll be celebrating the Preston International City Festival as well.

"The public often rate our services very highly yet they don't always know that it is the County Council providing them. This is your chance to find out exactly how your money is spent."

As well as being able to speak to county councilors and staff visitors will also be able to pick up a range of informative leaflets and tourist brochures.

County Councillor Johnson will be joined by county councillors Bill Parkinson, Stephen Wilkinson and Alan Hackett.
