School Council Visits County Hall

News: School Council Visits County Hall

Monday, 21st June 2004
(PR 1415)

Pupils from a Leyland school council were given an exclusive tour of County Hall recently to find out more about the work of Lancashire County Council.

The pupils from Farington Primary School are all members of their school council. The group is frequently asked for suggestions regarding issues affecting the pupils.

The Chairman of the County Council Nora Ward gave the group a personal tour of the council chamber, with opportunities to quiz her about being a councillor and the work of the authority.

Councillor Ward said:

"We're always happy to welcome pupils to County Hall to let them find out more about our work. We usually receive a very enthusiastic response and are asked some very interesting and unusual questions.

"School councils are a great way to listen to pupils' views and encourage pupils to think about others."
