News: Meet Your County Councillor At The Platform
Monday, 28th June 2004
Visitors to the Platform in Morecambe this weekend have a chance to find out more about the county council.
Lancashire County Council's popular mobile information unit will stop off at the Platform between 10.00am and 4.00pm on Saturday 3rd July. Members of the public will be able to meet and quiz their local county councillors and officers as well as pick up informative leaflets and brochures.
A special feature on this visit will be the presence of officers from Lancashire County Developments Ltd, the County Council's economic development company. They will be on hand for people who are looking for help with business finance and relocations, office premises, social enterprise and tourism.
County Councillor Niki Penney, LCDL chairman said:
“This is the fourth time our trailer has visited the district. Wherever we go local people always turn up eager to quiz our councillors and officers. We have everything on board to help people with their council enquiries and also to enjoy a great day out or break in the red rose county.
“Lancashire County Council provides a great many services for our residents, but while some are well known others are not. The public often rate our services very highly yet they don't always know that it is the county council providing them. This is your chance to find out exactly how your money is being spent.”
County councillors Ruth Henig, Albert Thornton, David Woods and Tony Jones will be on hand throughout the day to chat with visitors.
