The Chairman of Lancashire County Developments (LCDL), County Councillor Niki Penney dropped in on Alison Hocking, Lady Mayoress of Lancaster as she worked at Beaufort Road Post Office this week for a special reason.
Alison is the 600th member of the Morecambe Bay Credit Union.
This marks a huge milestone for the increasingly successful credit union and is a rare coincidence - Alison's father, Mayor John Day is member number 6!
The Credit Union serves people in Morecambe, Lancaster and much of the surrounding rural area. Members enjoy the benefits of competitive loan rates and free life insurance. For a free information pack about the credit union ring 01524 582867. New members are always welcomed.
County Councillor Penney said:
"LCDL, the County Council's economic development company is not just about supporting businesses in Lancashire.
"We also spend a lot of time helping communities and supporting social enterprise. We see credit unions as an integral part of local communities, giving everyone the chance to save and to access loans at affordable rates of interest.
"I am delighted to be able to congratulate Alison on becoming the 600th member of the Morecambe Bay Credit Union. Reaching the 600 member mark is a real achievement for this group and I am sure they will go from strength to strength."
