A COMPANY working with organisations training staff and volunteers how to keep children, young people and adults safe, is expanding its work thanks to Rosebud business solutions.
The Athena Programme is an award-winning company specialising in training and consultancy for the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
Athena offers a range of services that bring about changes in practice to promote culturally-safer organisations.
Lancashire County Council's Rosebud scheme provided funding for marketing and communications materials to help the business broaden its client base.
The Clitheroe-based company was founded four years ago by Sarah Goodall and has a broad range of clients which include councils, foster care training groups, the NHS, charities, independent schools and housing associations.
Sarah said: "We have been able to create fresh, new branding which includes inspiring photography, literature and a new website which speaks to our customers to build better relationships and increase sales.
"Ultimately, investment from Rosebud will allow us to develop and grow our business, reaching new market sectors and more organisations, including Lancashire communities."
Sarah is a trained social worker with extensive experience in a wide range of organisations including the Greater Manchester Probation Service, the NCH children's charity, the Rochdale Youth Offending Team and the Wigan Safeguarding Children Board. She was recently named Extraordinary Entrepreneur in the 2011 Extraordinary Women awards.
County Councillor Michael Green, Cabinet member for economic development, environment and planning; said: "Safeguarding is a hard and emotional subject matter, yet Sarah’s specialist team deliver customised, creative training which provides their clients with a safe environment to be imaginative and gain real understanding of the needs of vulnerable people.
"Rosebud's package of finance and support is customised to help individual businesses. We are pleased to support such an innovative training service which will bring about positive changes in organisations and ultimately benefit vulnerable people."
Funding for Rosebud is provided by Lancashire County Developments Ltd - the county council's economic development company - as part of the council's broad package of investment and advice. It is managed on their behalf by Enterprise Ventures.
