Early Years Representation for Free Entitlement
What is the Schools Forum?
The Lancashire Schools Forum is a statutory body made up of representatives of head teachers and governing bodies of Lancashire schools and representatives of other relevant ‘non-schools’ organisations within Lancashire. The Forum advises the County Council on matters relating to school funding and has certain decision making powers.
Why does it matter to Early Years?
The Schools Forum debates, advises and in some cases approves; the funding for the Free Entitlement; the Single Funding Formula; changes in the operational and contractual aspects of the Free Entitlement. This is informed by the Early Years Consultative Group and the Early Years Block Working Group.
How are you represented on the Schools Forum?
There are currently three elected members for the Private Voluntary and Independent sectors of early years.
Peter Hindle, Owner of Le Monde Petit and Little Acorns private day nurseries and CEO of a charity nursery in a Sure Start setting. Peter is Chair of the Early Years Block of the Schools Forum and Chair of Governors at a local primary school. Peter also runs a coaching and mentoring business.
Anne Peet Chair Lancashire Sub-Committee Pre-school Learning Alliance (PLA). Anne is the Administrator at Croston Pre-school and has been involved in Early Years education for over 25 years. She is also a qualified adult education tutor working for PLA specialising in business management and equal ops. workshops.
Sharon Alexander is the owner of Rosy Apple Childcare Ltd. Rosy Apple Childcare is a vibrant company which specialises in bespoke childcare. Based in Lancashire, Rosy Apple owns three nurseries and manages two nurseries on behalf of Lancashire County Council. Rosy Apple also offers training for childcare professionals throughout the North West. Sharon's commitment to little Achievers Nurseries has seen Rosy Apple achieve many business accolades and appear as case studies and within good practice articles. Sharon is a North West Apprenticeship Ambassador, on behalf of the National Apprenticeship Service.

This is a representative group from across the sector that meets 3-4 times a year to debate and advise Officers and Schools Forum on current issues.
