Training Opportunities

Lead Professional Training - 2 day stepped approach

A two day course has been developed for Lead Professionals who are currently working in one of the five pilot districts (Wyre, Preston, Lancaster, Burnley and Hyndburn). There is an expectation that applicants will be aware of the role of Lead Professional for "Working Together with Families", are performing the role for "Working Together with Families" or to be nominated to perform the role. In addition you should have attended either a Lead Professional Workshop or a LIF Awareness Session and also completed LSCB Safeguarding Level 2.

At this stage applications are invited from all Lead Professionals but priority will be given to those who are working with or nominated for "Working Together with Families". This two day course takes account of, and builds on, earlier work in the pilot areas. After monitoring and evaluation has been completed it is intended to roll out training for Lead Professionals across other districts from Autumn 2013

Safeguarding

Additional safeguarding multi agency training opportunities are available from the Lancashire Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB). These include courses and e-learning, view the LSCB website for further information.

THE SAFE NETWORK

Information about free child protection training for non-profit organisations can be found at www.safenetwork.org.uk/training_and_awareness/Pages/free_educare_training.aspx

The Safe Network is jointly managed by the NSPCC, Children England and Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT), and was created as a result of the Government’s Staying Safe action plan.

The Lancashire Common Core Programme

The COMMON CORE is a programme supporting 'everyone' working with children, young people and families to have a common set of skills and knowledge.

A series of short training programmes have been devised to support the common core. We are planning to run a half day face to face sessions for each module, most likely one half day per week for four weeks. The sessions will be multi agency and provided free of charge.

If you have any staff who you think would benefit from this training please email cypworkforcegroup@lancashire.gov.uk

An e-learning package has also been developed to raise basic awareness of the common core which is available here.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships can be a way of obtaining free qualifications for existing staff.  The upper age limit for apprenticeships no longer applies, and converting to an apprenticeship does not necessarily mean a change to contractual or pay arrangements.

Visit the Apprenticeships page for more information.
