Pupil Premium for Early Years Children

Pupil Premium for Early Years Children

From April 2015, childcare providers will be able to claim extra funding through the Pupil Premium for Early Years Children to support children's development, learning and care.
National data and research tells us that children from less advantaged backgrounds can start school 19 months behind their peers, but that good quality childcare can reduce this gap and have a significant benefit in terms of a child’s development.  The Pupil Premium will provide you with extra funding to help close this gap and improve life chances for these children.
In this section of our website you will find all the information you will need to help you to:
  • communicate the benefits of Pupil Premium to parents, so that you can claim on their child's behalf.

  • understand the procedures we have put in place to allow you to claim for the eligible children in your care.

  • develop and enhance your childcare practices helping you to support the needs of your children and achieve better outcomes from Ofsted inspections.

Case Studies

Please complete the proforma shown below to help us to collect examples of best practice.  We hope to develop these examples into a document/resource library to support settings in using the funding effectively to meet children's needs and evidence the impact the funding has had.
