Great ideas for the summer holidays

Are you ready for the summer?

While we can't guarantee the sunshine we can help you fill your days with fun-filled activities and events for all ages, whatever the weather!  From arts and crafts to dancing and sports, there's no better time to find out what's happening on your doorstep.

Whether you're looking to enjoy the countryside or want something to entertain the family - Lancashire has lots to offer.

  • Beat the boredom this summer with some great borough and city council guides full of activities and events
for children, young people and families to enjoy.
  • Our Summer Reading Challenge: mythical maze is a great way to get your tots and teens reading throughout the summer holidays.
Your local library looks forward to welcoming all brave discoverers this summer.
  • For a fun way to explore our county's local heritage, there are a range of events, activities and craft sessions suitable for families
with children of all ages taking place in our museums and libraries. See our spectacular display of Viking Silver
at the Museum of Lancashire, Preston.  Known as the Silverdale Hoard, the collection is made up of more than 200 items believed
to date from around 900 AD.
  • If you'd rather get out and about in the fresh air, then enjoy Lancashire's beautiful surroundings with a range of activities for all ages
(many are free!) run by our Countryside Service.
