'All your staff have very high expectations and their enthusiasm and dedication are infectious...staff and pupils are striving to achieve even greater success'. (Ofsted Nov 2016)

After 5 very successful years leading the school, Mr Mitchell is moving on to new opportunities: Penwortham Primary School is looking to appoint a new Headteacher.

Above all else, the following are the five key professional attributes that we are looking for in the person we appoint:

- Concern for excellence and demonstration of a high degree of attention to detail
- Decisiveness, consistency and a focus on solutions
- Resilience and conviction when trying to achieve the best outcomes
- A positive and optimistic outlook; ready to embrace innovation
- Ready to engage in collaborative partnership working, within and beyond the school

Penwortham Primary School is a single-form entry community Primary School with 204 pupils on roll. Our school has wonderful pupils, an extremely supportive staff team, excellent resources and very high standards and expectations. The school was last Ofsted inspected on the 29th November 2016 and we were delighted that the HMI agreed with our evaluation of the high quality of educational experience that we offer.

This is a Headteacher post. The successful applicant will lead the school to both maintain and further develop all aspects of the school's provision, achieving the best possible outcomes for each and every pupil.

This post will provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to continue to move the school forward from its current strong position. The school leadership team includes: The Deputy Headteacher (Designated Safeguarding Lead and Key Stage 2 Lead), the Assistant Headteacher (SEND and Key Stage 1 Lead), the Bursar and Lead TA/Vulnerable Pupil Champion. Middle Leaders take responsibility each year for a strand of the School Development Plan and have driven forward a number of school improvements as they develop their own leadership and management skills. We have a strong teaching team and standards of attainment and progress are consistently high.

All staff at this school make the education and welfare of our pupils their first concerns and are accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct. The successful candidate will be required to act with honesty and integrity, be self-critical and be highly skilled at forging positive professional relationships.

Ideally, the successful applicant will be available to take up the post on 1st January 2020, however the governing body would be willing to delay this until 1st May 2020 for the right candidate. This will be discussed at the appropriate point. An inability to begin on 1st January 2020 should not be taken as a reason not to apply for this wonderful opportunity.

Penwortham Primary is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post requires an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
